About Us
At Future Scholars, we nurture young hearts with faith and learning.

Our Story
Our vision is to build a Christ-centered foundation
that equips children to grow not only in knowledge, but in wisdom and grace.
We believe that when a child knows who they are in Christ,
they can step into the world with confidence, compassion, and courage.
Our guiding scripture comes from Proverbs 22:6:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
That scripture is more than a verse for us — it’s our calling.
The Daycare Doc

Mrs. Chante M. Buchanan
The Day Care Doc — The Woman Who Was Born Teaching
Long before she earned degrees, opened schools, or trained educators across the South, Chante M. Buchanan was already a teacher — a little girl with a big imagination and an even bigger calling. While other kids were outside riding bikes, Chante was in her room creating a classroom out of thin air. She loved teaching so fiercely that she’d get grounded for it. Her father would open her closet doors only to discover she’d taken chalk — yes, chalk — and turned those doors into her first chalkboards.
And when she wasn’t writing on those doors?
She was outside recruiting (and sometimes demanding) that the neighborhood kids sit down, sharpen their pencils, and play the only game she ever cared to play: school. There were no other options. Either Chante was the teacher, or she was going home. Most days, you guessed it — she was the teacher.
That same fire followed her through her years in Amite, Louisiana, where she graduated from Amite High School. Chante went on to attend one of America’s most celebrated HBCUs — Southern University. Her first passion was journalism. She admired Oprah Winfrey and the local Baton Rouge reporters making waves at the time. But after carrying cameras and doing mock interviews, she realized quickly: the classroom was still calling her name.
So she switched her major, embraced her true purpose, and began the journey she was born for.
While at Southern, she student-taught in public high schools across Baton Rouge, gaining hands-on experience and falling deeper in love with the craft of education. After graduation, she served as a daycare director, worked in Louisiana’s preschool programs in Hammond, and built a reputation for excellence, compassion, and creativity in early childhood education.
But everything changed when she welcomed her first child.
Searching for childcare as a young mother, she ran into a painful reality:
• the centers she loved didn’t accept the assistance she needed,
• the centers that accepted assistance weren’t environments she felt comfortable putting her baby in.
It was a crossroads that demanded faith, courage, and sacrifice. With the support of her loving father — who stepped in to help care for her child — a seed was planted in her heart. She saw the gap. She felt the need. And something was born inside her that day:
A mission to create high-quality, Christ-centered childcare that welcomes every child, honors every family, and refuses to compromise on excellence.
That mission eventually grew into Future Scholars Christian Academy, a brand now expanding to its fourth location at 3540 Woodruff Road — a testament to her grit, faith, and unstoppable passion.
Today, Chante is a Master of Arts in Teaching, a certified trainer for the state of South Carolina, and the visionary behind The Launching Pad, a Christian-based curriculum she began developing in 2017 to complement the Future Scholars brand.
She is also the heart and creator of The Day Care Doc — an educator’s alter ego designed to train, empower, and equip early-learning leaders with wisdom, tools, and confidence. Through The Day Care Doc Foundation, she pours into children, families, and communities through training, coaching, backpack giveaways, coat drives, essential-needs outreach, volunteer service, elderly visits, Habitat for Humanity support, summer camp sponsorships, and college tours.
Her story proves one thing:
Some people choose education.
Chante was chosen by it.
And now, through her schools, her foundation, her curriculum, and her calling, she’s helping raise up Future Scholars — one child, one classroom, one community at a time.
Rooted in Proverbs 22:6, we guide every child’s growth.
